Topic 5: Lessons learnt – future practice

So, it is time to wrap up the things!

For me, this ONL course was an eye-opening course to develop the educational practices that go beyond the traditional classroom boundaries. Things learnt from this course were stuck to my brain with minimal effort thanks to the way it was designed. I wish all the teacher that I had during my various educational levels has taken this course so that I would have learned things more fun and easy way!

So, what are the most important things that I have learnt through your engagement in the ONL course? And Why?

  • One of the highlights for me during the course was the collaborative group work learning experience. It was a fun and effective way. You get to see different perspective and solutions to one problem. It's amazing what you could achieve by doing things this way.
  • Another thing was the use of different digital tools that help to create a better learning experience in an online environment. I have below listed all the tools I came across during this course.

  • Definitely, I will be going to design my future courses so that it covers the most of the bullet points in the blended learning environment.
  • Also, I will kill the disposable assignment that you normally have in a traditional course.

However, some things need further improvements! Especially some of the recorded lectures that were given as the learning material were utterly boring. This is mainly because it has only one slide with a lot of information and the teacher talked and talked using this single slide. So, some teachers definitely need to see “How to avoid death by using PowerPoint” to improve their communication skills.

Overall, I would recommend this ONL course to all the teachers out there!

  1. I so much appreciate that you also bring in some critical points! Some of our peers stayed on the positives only ... and although there were many ... there was indeed some boredom as well as some sense of ONL endorsing overachievement! I am wondering on what shall I focus?! Thanks for sharing!
